I hope you had a great weekend. We've still got snow on the ground here, but spring is in the air and we enjoyed some wonderful sunshine over the weekend. Adam was working, so my mom and I took Hannah to the petting zoo at Hatfield Farm. It was pretty muddy and Hannah was a little scared of the animals, so we decided to stay on the other side of the fence. The roosters calling to each other thrilled Hannah to no end, and she's been talking about the donkeys ever since :)
In other news, while it may seem like we're not up to much around the house these days, the truth is that we're getting ready to make some big, expensive updates. The unsexy kind, unfortunately.
When we bought our house, we knew the roof would need to be replaced within the next several years; it needs to be done sooner than we expected. Our house is small, but our roof is big, so it's a big project and one we wish we could have planned a little better for.
The crazy winter weather caused ice damming, which damaged the insulation in our attic and the main floor ceiling (though the damage is only visible from the attic side, if that makes sense). Luckily we have insurance coverage for ice damming, but it's still going to be a major headache to replace all that insulation and drywall (so much dust!). My mom lives nearby, so at least we'll have a place to stay while all that work is happening (think positive!).
So that's where things are with us: negotiating with our insurance company, mulling over roofing shingle colours, and patiently waiting for all the snow to melt.
