Info Post

Slowly, but surely, we're making progress on the staircase and upstairs hallway. I finished painting the walls and trim this weekend (with Adam's help), and the plan is to paint the ceiling this week. We'll need to borrow a second ladder to edge the ceilings properly. The drywall guys placed one ladder on the stairs and one on the main floor, then ran a board between them to manage the high ceilings. We're planning to copy their trick.

Once the painting's done, we'll pull out those dinky baseboards and install new flooring. We're going to use the same hardwood we used in all three bedrooms. Same baseboard, too. I've been envisioning the finished hallway for nearly three years; I can't wait for it to actually be finished.

I ordered this gate for the top of the basement stairs. It had good reviews on several different sites, so I'm hoping it's a winner. We've been blocking the top of the stairs with a giant storage bin and a bench since the reno started, which is awkward for us and Hannah has just about learned how to navigate it anyway. Time for a proper gate.

The painting was balanced by Sunday breakfast with some of our favourite people. We have a favourite breakfast spot (Athens, for any locals) and we were seated near a ceiling fan, so Hannah was happy. Girl loves her ceiling fans. We had some wild wind and rain on Saturday night, so Hannah and I spent some time in the yard yesterday picking up broken tree branches. Mostly little ones, thankfully. Pretty much all of the snow melted overnight, and it was an oddly mild day today. Hannah wore splash pants instead of snow pants. We tried to make the most of the warmer weather, and Hannah seemed to enjoy stomping around the muddy yard.

I hope you had a great weekend, too!
